I haven't updated here is aaaaaaaages.  I probably should soon.  But I probably won't even though I should.  We'll see if I get around to it.

I have two things to say:
1. ROCK OF AGES IS MY NEW FAVORITE SHOW EVER!  Seriously, if you get the chance go see it.  SO much fun!  (And five Tony noms!  Hells yeah!)
2. I have a brand new fic journal located here at [info]shanwowrites .  I mostly write SA and Bare nowadays, so if you're interested in that, check it out!

I'm considering dropping out of high school, taking the GED, and going straight to college at age 16/17.  I just don't feel that high school has much to offer me at all.  Socially, it's basically Hell.  And as far as "preparing me for the real world" I am very prepared.  Due to some unfortunate circumstances in my childhood (that I do not want to get into though I have with some of you), I was forced to grow up pretty early.  As long as I was financially stable, I could easily live on my own right now.  That's not just the stubborn teenager in me talking...even my therapist agrees with me on that.  As far as education goes, barely any students appreciate it which partially ruins my educational experience since I do.  Plus a lot of my teachers are morons.  It's painful to sit in a class where you know more about the subject than the actualy teacher.  The rest are just bad teachers in general.  Some are bearable, but aren't able to give me what I should be given.  I honestly just don't see the point in going to high school anymore.

However, there are three problems:
1. I really want to go to the University of Illinois, but they specifically said that a focus of theirs is classes applicants took in high school.  If I dropped out, that list would not be very high or particularly varied.  But even if I don't get in there at first, I could always go to a community college and transfer.  So that's not TOO much of an issue.
2. I'm not sure how my dad would feel.  He's technically the one who put it in my head in the first place, but he never made it clear as to whether or not he supported this idea.  Overall, I think I could convince him to let me do it.  Oh and my mom would be very against it.  But neither I nor the law really care what she has to say about that.
3. I want to be a teacher.  This is really more of an ethical issue.  I mean, how ironic would it be for me to be teaching high school English when I technically didn't even graduate from high school?

Two nights ago I saw Spring Awakening for the seventh time. Jesse Swenson was on for Melchior. He was good...number 3 on my list of Melchis (Which consists of all but one Melchiors/Melchior understudies ever on Broadway). But who cares about Jesse when I had an actual legit conversation with Matt Doyle at the stage door!

I actually ended up running into a girl from baton. She and her mother saw me sitting onstage and I talked to them at intermission. Her mom offered to drive me home so my dad didn't have to drive into the city and pick me up. I convinced them to stage door.

They were very impressed that I was onstage and that I had seen the show seven times. Maybe that gave me a bit of a confidence boost. Also Matt was the first person out so I wasn't waiting in breathless anticipation for too terribly long. I don't know what it was, but here is our legit conversation:
S: Hi!
M: Shannon! Hey! (hugs) I saw you sitting onstage! Did you have fun?
S: Yeah. (pause) I have a question for you...
M: Yeah?
S: Alright so in like November you signed my Playbill and it kinda looks like you wrote something besides your signature. (shows him Playbill)
M: No..sometimes my hand just kinda makes scribbles.
S: Oh...
M: Um...yeah.
S: Okay. Can I have a picture?
M: Yeah! (takes picture that actually came out with me looking not so horrible...it's totes my new profile picture once my computer is up and running) Thanks for coming!

Okay..so I kinda ended up looking like a total and complete idiot. But at least I looked like an idiot because of the words that came out of my mouth instead of looking like an idiot for just standing there! That's a definite start! And I think he's lying or just doesn't remember. Those "scribbles" look awfully deliberate! Ah well.

Legit conversations FTW!!!

If you get more than 30 I strongly recommend some counseling!

IF you get more than 20 you’re paranoid.

If you get 10-20 then u are normal.

If you get 10 or less you’re fearless.

People who don’t have any are full of s***( =) )!

Yesterday's happy thing: I'm going to see SA again on New Year's Day!  I'm sitting in AA13, which is pretty much surrounded by cast members (they're stage seats).  Yay!

Today's happy thing: I'm going into the city today.  Not sure which show I'm seeing today.  My dad said no Spring Awakening.  Oh well.  I'm hoping for either 13 or Gypsy. =)

So apparently I WAS tagged for that happy stuff meme a few days ago.  I just realized it.  LOL.  So I'm starting it today, mostly because I will need happy stuff to focus on for the next few days because of the fact that my dad never got me tickets for the SA Christmas concert and it's sold out. =(

But anyway.....HAPPY!  DAY 1!

IT'S CHRISTMAS!  NEED I SAY MORE?!

Usually I don't get into the Christmas spirit until like Christmas Eve.  Yesterday at the 4:30 family mass at my church I sang a solo, and apparently did a good job.  It's this really pretty song from Mary's POV called Breath of Heaven.  It's basically a Christmas version of Whispering.  At least that's how I got "into character".  The whole dumb-downed Christmas story they were reading the kids (it basically went part of the story then a song, part of the story then a song, etc.) contained the lines, "But how could this be?  I'm not married!"  So don't tell anyone, but my version of the Virgin Mary got knocked up in the hayloft.  It must have been while Matt Doyle was on for Melchior, because I'm convinced that he is God.  (Hehe...I kid...I kid....just to make sure nobody is offended!)

The sermon at the later mass was really really good too.  It kinda focused around A Christmas Carol, which is one of my favorite stories of all time.  I don't really know how to go into detail about it without getting preachy myself, but it was just really good.

Oh and the present today don't exactly hinder my holiday spirit either. =)
